THE 23rd annual Ulysses Club Toy Run was a big success with most of this year’s donations going back into the Cranbourne community.
About 600 motorbikes left Centro Cranbourne Shopping Centre on Saturday morning to deliver toys, food parcels and other donations to charity to be distributed among those in need before Christmas.
Organiser Barbara Maggs from Devon Meadows said she was particularly pleased to see a lot of the donations go to the Cranbourne Information and Support Service, accepted by manager Leanne Petrides.
“It was so good of everyone to give,” Ms Maggs said. “And I’m glad it went back into the community.
“When I saw Leanne Petrides there was nothing in her cupboard, only a couple of tins of baked beans.
“Yesterday (Monday) I could hardly get in her office. I heard 28 families, up to date, have come forward to receive parcels.”
Ms Maggs also thanked the police and Casey Traffic Management Unit on their help getting the convoy safely to Williamstown, where it met with members of the Motorcycle Riders’ Association (MRA).
She also thanked Coates Hire for its help, all the clubs and people involved in the ride and those who donated, and Harley Hogs from Lilydale, which won best club attendance on the day.
