LYNDHURST Secondary College is celebrating after all its Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning (VCAL) students went on to an apprenticeship or tertiary study.
For the past three years the college has run an integration program for students who have learning difficulties or are disadvantaged.
All of this year’s year 11 and 12 integration students went on to further training.
The school celebrated last Thursday with speeches and a special luncheon for the students.
Integration coordinator Nick Hamer-Smith said the students had proved to themselves and to their peers that they could overcome significant challenges to complete the school program and were a role model to younger students.
Mr Hamer-Smith said disadvantaged year seven students had been invited to the event with their parents to see what was possible for them at the college and how they could achieve.
Teachers and school principal Steve Phillips gave speeches and presented certificates to the students, who also spoke and thanked their teachers for their help during the students’ schooling.
