A HAMPTON Park Secondary College student will be tapping into the calculator as he spends a week at the prestigious UBS Finance Academy in Sydney.
Year 11 student Vivek Kumaresan is one of 50 students selected throughout Australia and will fly to Sydney next week to gain a once in a lifetime overview of the finance industry.
The budding accountant from Hampton Park will participate in various workshops and seek advice from the international guest speakers.
Vivek said he was following in the footsteps of his grandfather.
“My grandfather was an accountant and I, too, have a passion for business, maths and analysing,” he said.
Vivek is studying maths methods, accounting, physics, advanced general maths, English and business management at Hampton Park Secondary College.
Chairman of UBS Australasia Brad Orgill said the program was developed to enable students to explore the world of finance and investment.
He said the students involved would gain a practical overview of the industry.
UBS is one of the world’s leading financial firms and has offices in more than 50 countries.
