POLICE are disgusted after finding drains clogged up with two-minute noodles and a defecated substance on the carpet in a newly constructed house in Cranbourne.
The home was at lock-up stage when it was vandalised between Sunday 16 March and Monday 17 March.
Police said the offenders entered the home through the rear door.
Cigarette butts were found in the kitchen cupboards and there were footprints all over the walls.
Police said the house needed to be repainted and recarpeted.
The damage totalled $5000.
Det Sen Const Paul Stow from Casey CIU said damages to new homes at lock up stage occurred quite frequently.
“It is very much out of the ordinary that someone defecated on the carpet. We don’t deal with those types of acts all the time. It is just disgusting in its nature,” he said.
Det Sen Const Stow said because there was nothing to steal, the offenders maliciously damaged the property.
He said that DNA could be extracted from the defecated substance and police hoped this would identify someone at the scene.
Meanwhile over the same weekend, a row of six townhouses on Glasscocks Road, also at lock up stage, were targeted between 4pm on 15 March and 7am on 17 March.
Police said they found graffiti on one of the walls saying, “Hayden was here.”
Fifteen windows were smashed and the plaster walls had foot holes in them.
The damage totalled $8000.
