A LYNDHURST couple was devastated when a grandfather clock that had been in the family for 70 years was stolen.
The couple has offered a reward for information leading to the return of the clock after their house on a South Gippsland Highway property was broken into between 7 and 9 May.
A window was smashed and the clock, which is highly identifiable, was the only item stolen.
The husband, who did not want to be named, said his wife was very upset over the loss of the clock.
“Some people say it is very valuable, others say it is only of moderate value,” he said.
“In any case it certainly has huge sentimental value for my wife.”
The man said he believed the art deco grandfather clock, made in the 1930s, was the only thing stolen as there was nothing else of value in the house.
“There was some dishware and crockery and an ancient TV, but the normal things (thieves) go after like jewellery had been packed away in storage,” he said.
Anyone wanting to claim the reward and return the clock can call 9417 1908, or witnesses can contact Detective Senior Constable David Measham at Cranbourne CIU on 5991 0661.
