Shrine expo opens in Casey

THE History of the Shrine Travelling Exhibition has arrived in Casey.
The popular exhibit, titled A Building with a Soul, is on display at the Balla Balla Centre until 11 January.
The exhibition highlights the journey of Victoria’s most recognisable memorial from its conception in 1921 to its present day role as the pre-eminent site for commemoration and education.
Mayor Colin Butler said: “The exhibition, which combines historical education with multimedia, will allow the Casey community to appreciate the role of the Shrine in honouring the service and sacrifices of Victorian servicemen and women.
“It aims to connect all Victorians to the Shrine and inform young and old of its history, significance and future direction.
“I hope the Casey community finds it interesting and engaging, especially those who may not otherwise be able to visit the Shrine.”
The exhibition features information panels, archival photographs and audiovisual material (including original footage from 1934 and 1954) drawing from more than 70 years of archives, newspapers and photo collections.
The exhibition opened on Monday and continues through to Friday 21 December before reopening on Monday 7 January through to Friday 11 January at 65 Berwick-Cranbourne Road, Cranbourne
The exhibition opens Monday to Friday from 11am to 4pm and admission is free.
