New home for U3A

By Kelly Yates
THE University of the Third Age Cranbourne (U3A) now has a new home in the Cranbourne Library.
The volunteer community group celebrated its new location by having a special afternoon tea on 28 March.
MP Jude Perera and representatives from Casey Council attended.
U3A Cranbourne president Bev Wood said the new location was attracting more members.
“We have had 30 new members join since the start of this year. Now we have a total of 140 members,” she said.
U3A Cranbourne is made up of retired people and the organisation runs classes in art, folk art, beginner and advanced computer skills, card making and calligraphy.
Ms Wood runs an armchair travel group.
“For many of us, due to finance and health reasons, we can not travel overseas. The armchair travel group is a session where we watch DVDs about places all over the world. We recently went on a train trip to the Rockies in Canada,” she said.
“We get to travel the world for free.”
Ms Wood said U3A Cranbourne was always looking for new members.
The annual membership fee is $35 for the first year and then $30.
Ms Wood said that making new friends was one of the added bonuses about being involved with U3A Cranbourne.
