New estate aims to be like a breath of fresh air

A NEW estate designed with the environment in mind has been launched in Cranbourne North.
Casey mayor Colin Butler and Narre Warren South MP Judith Graley turned the first sod at the Eve Estate, launching one of the city’s largest green communities.
The estate incorporates water conservation and sustainable living, and the development and construction phases will attempt to reduce carbon dioxide emissions.
The estate will comprise 776 housing lots, four parks, a secondary school and a neighbourhood retail centre.
Stockland regional manager Anton Pound said the estate, on Glasscocks Road, would also offer recycled water for toilet flushing and garden watering to enable the community to save potable water.
“Also, because of Stockland’s commitment to the environment, our civil contractors will use machines fuelled by bio-diesel for the civil works,” he said.
“Bio-diesel is a clean green fuel which can cut our carbon emissions by up to 25 per cent.”
The first students should be welcomed into the estate’s new secondary school in 2010.
