CASEY Council is calling on young people to make suggestions on a new piece of public artwork.
Representatives aged 10 to 25 years from local schools, youth groups, clubs and the broader community are invited to join a new steering committee to recommend the development of an appropriate art piece to recognise the contributions of young people to the Casey community.
City of Casey youth and community development manager Janette Green said the contribution of Casey’s large youth population to the greater good of the city deserved to be recognised.
“The steering committee is a wonderful opportunity for young people to decide upon an appropriate visual installation to recognise the value of our younger residents,” she said.
The steering committee will meet weekly to discuss an appropriate art piece and the final recommendations will then be presented to council.
A meeting will be held from 5.30pm to 7pm today at the Civic Centre in Narre Warren to find out more about the steering committee.
Anyone interested in attending the initial meeting should contact Casey youth development officer Deilia Murray on 9705 5200.
