Hunt Club bags award

THE Hunt Club Estate has won a best estate of the year award in the prestigious Housing Industry Association (HIA) awards.
The Cranbourne East estate was recognised for its environmental achievements at the HIA GreenSmart Housing Award ceremony last Thursday.
Bert Dennis, executive chairman of the Dennis Family Corporation, the developer of The Hunt Club, said he was thrilled with this award.
Mr Dennis said it was an honour for the development to be so highly regarded for its environmental practices.
“Dennis Family Corporation is committed to improving sustainability within the residential sector,” he said.
“At The Hunt Club we have implemented many sustainable features into the development including low wattage street lighting and an extensive network of wetlands, parklands and open spaces that are designed to capture and treat stormwater before it is released into local creeks.”
The HIA GreenSmart awards recognise environmental excellence in residential development, awarding builders and developers who go beyond environmental regulations.
In October, residents of The Hunt Club will become the first homeowners in Victoria to have Class A recycled water supplied directly to their homes.
The recycled water will be delivered through a dual pipe water system and will be used for toilet flushing and outside uses. “We have incorporated water sensitive urban design into the estate’s master plan,” Mr Dennis said.
“By supplying Class A recycled water directly to households in all new stages of the estate for washing cars, watering gardens and flushing toilets we are further reducing pressure on precious drinking water reserves.”
This was the first year that there was a category for estate of the year.
