Granted, women have skills

CASEY women have been encouraged to apply for a State Government grant to help develop their leadership skills and through initiatives strengthen their communities.
Hastings MP Rosy Buchanan encouraged local women and women’s groups to apply for the Victorian Government’s Women’s Community Leadership Grant.
“There are so many talented women in this area who make invaluable contributions to the community,” Ms Buchanan said.
“These grants are a means by which women can further their experience and qualifications while they go about their business of helping others.”
The grants award up to $5000 for organisations or groups and up to $2000 for individuals.
A total of $127,000 is available this year.
Categories include rural and regional women, family violence, women’s health and wellbeing, emergency management, education work and economic independence.
Women will also be able to apply for grants under a general category.
Applications will be accepted until 1 May.
Minister for Women’s Affairs Mary Delahunty officially launched the opening of the Women’s Community Leadership Grants last month as part of the International Women’s Day celebrations.
