Dirt road bites the dust

A SMALL gravel road in Cannons Creek will be closed for good after councillors and community members decided there was little need to keep it open.
Reserve Way, a 100-metre road adjacent to Bonnie Watson Bushland Reserve, was originally constructed as an emergency access track but no longer meets Casey Council standards.
Current drainage problems on the road have resulted in an inconvenience for neighbouring properties.
It was estimated that $10,000 would have been required to upgrade the road and install proper drainage.
The two property owners next to Reserve Way were keen for the road to be closed and the local Country Fire Authority also advised the council they had no objection to the closure going ahead.
The closure is not expected to have an adverse impact on local traffic conditions with Bluff Road and Cannons Creek Road offering motorists similar alternatives.
