Clubs smarten up

FIVE local sports clubs will look the part after receiving funding for new uniforms and footwear.
Tooradin Dalmore Netball Club, Cranbourne North Netball Club, Cranbourne South West Netball Association, Cranbourne Bowling Club and Cranbourne Pony Club were the first Cranbourne clubs to receive a grant in the first round of funding.
Each club received up to $1000 in the State Government’s new Our Club, Our Future Sporting Uniform Grants Program.
Cranbourne MP Jude Perera said uniforms were an important part of local sports culture and helped establish a club’s identity and character and built morale among teammates.
“Now clubs can get a cash boost to help their players put on the club colours and help create a sense of team unity and pride,” Mr Perera said.
“Our priority has been junior clubs, and clubs from disadvantaged areas including clubs from a wide range of sports such as hockey, golf, netball, football and cricket.
“These grants will provide added incentive for people of all ages and abilities to be part of a team, enabling even the smallest of clubs to look the part while competing and training,”
Applications for the second round of funding close in September. Applications are now open online at www.grants.dvc.vic.gov.au. Contact the Grants Information Line on 1300 366 356 for assistance.
