Call for history projects

CASEY’S community groups could share in $700,000 in grants for local history projects.
The State Government grants are available for community organisations to fund a not-for-profit history project.
The Local History Grants Program distributed small grants to community history projects across Victoria.
Applications for grants worth up to $12,000 for individual projects opened last Monday, 11 September and will close on Tuesday, 3 October.
“We are looking for projects that share and preserve community stories,” Cranbourne MP Jude Perera said.
“All Victorian communities have a story to tell, and many take the initiative to create books, exhibitions, heritage trails and other projects that preserve and share their past.
“History projects help people connect to their area and foster a sense of belonging and pride in place.”
The $700,000 will be distributed over two years, including $100,000 in the current round, a further $250,000 in the next round and $350,000 in 2007-08.
