CRANBOURNE, Pearcedale and coastal residents can take a ride between the areas in the new trial bus service.
Casey mayor Kevin Bradford encouraged people travelling between Cranbourne and Pearcedale to try the new bus service which will run until next February, and show support for increased public transport services to the area.
“For too long there has been a lack of adequate public transport from Cranbourne to the south, and council is trying to temporarily fill this gap and highlight to the State Government that residents deserve better access,” Cr Bradford said.
The bus trial began in April and while some residents have chosen to get on board, Cr Bradford said there were still many who had not yet tried the service.
Timetables and information on the service have been sent to all Pearcedale and coastal villages residents, and there are also copies of timetables at local libraries, various community outlets and the council’s website.
The council bus trial includes a seven-day-a-week service Cranbourne-Pearcedale (Route 794) and a weekend service to supplement the existing weekday service for residents of the coastal villages (Route 795).
Normal Zone 3 ticketing applies to the trial services and the buses are scheduled to connect with trains leaving Cranbourne Railway Station for other destinations.
