THE BreastScreen Victoria mobile screening service is making its first ever visit to Cranbourne.
The service started screening Cranbourne women on Monday, and offers free mammograms for women aged 50 years and over in Cranbourne and surrounding areas.
Monash BreastScreen director Stewart Hart said he hoped that locating the service in Cranbourne made it more convenient for women to have their mammograms.
Mr Hart said it was important that women over 50 years had a breast x-ray every two years, as early detection of breast cancer offered the best chance of successful treatment and recovery.
The service will be located at the Cranbourne Public Hall car park on the South Gippsland Highway for the next three to four weeks.
Appointments are necessary and can be made by phoning 13 20 50. A doctor’s referral is not necessary.
