All set for rodeo thrills, spills

By Kelly Yates

CRANBOURNE will come alive this Friday and Saturday night when the 10th annual Cranbourne Rodeo bucks into town.
Acoubra Homicidal will be making his debut, the only bull to have never been ridden.
John Gill, owner and breeder of these bulls said that 50 of Australia’s best bulls will be on show.
“Acoubra Homicidal is the most sensational bull this country has seen,” Mr Gill said.
The gates will open at 4.30pm with the rodeo starting about 6pm on both days at the 20-acre property, 1450 Ballarto Road, Clyde.
Cranbourne Rodeo organiser Shaun Mathrick said that unlike past rodeos, this year they are holding it on the Friday and Saturday as opposed to the past Saturday and Sunday due to extreme temperatures.
“In the past, the final day reached temperatures in the 40s so we decided to swap it around this year,” Mr Mathrick said.
According to Mr Mathrick, every year the event grows 10–12 per cent in numbers.
A fireworks display and an extreme motorcycle stunt show are just some of the activities on offer alongside the rodeo.
“It’s the first time in the history of the rodeo that we are having a fireworks display,” he said.
The fireworks display will be on both evenings at 10.30pm.
Adding to the excitement, The Blackhill Ramblers will be playing live.
Food and drinks will also be available.
Adult tickets cost $20 per person and children under the age of 15 years and aged pensioners cost $10 per person.
