A YEAR after a Cranbourne woman was robbed on a local street she has helped detectives arrest a man.
On 28 July last year, the woman was playing the pokies at Kelly’s Hotel in Cranbourne and was talking to a man on the poker machine next to her who had asked her for money.
Police said she left the venue to pick her son up from a nearby shop and the man followed her along High Street before grabbing her purse from her bag, which contained about $400.
On 25 July this year, the woman was at Kelly’s Hotel as Cranbourne police were doing a routine walk-through.
The woman recognised one of the police officers and pointed out a man that she identified as the culprit in the robbery. The man was begging in the hotel at the time.
A 31-year-old Cranbourne man was arrested and bailed to appear before the Dandenong Magistrates’ Court on 29 November on charges of robbery.
