A CRANBOURNE woman has been charged after police said she falsely claimed to have been the victim of a road-side armed robbery earlier this month.
The 22-year-old reported that on 6 February a man standing on the side of the road with a petrol can approached her vehicle opposite Freeway Ford on the South Gippsland Highway in Cranbourne.
She said he produced a knife and demanded cash, and the woman handed over $900.
The woman reported the incident but local detectives have charged her with the serious offence of making a false report to police.
The woman has been bailed to appear at the Frankston Magistrates’ Court on 13 March.
