Trucks thrill monster crowd

CRANBOURNE’S monster truck show on the weekend was a massive event with organisers having to turn away as many people as they let in.
Clive Featherby, one of the organisers of the event, said the 9000-strong crowd was great and enjoyed the roaring trucks as they shook the earth and crushed cars in a trail of destruction.
He said it was a shame to have to turn so many people away but they had no choice when it got to the point where some people inside the Cranbourne Racecourse could not see the action.
“People just don’t prepay. We only pre-sold 700 tickets. It just ends up leaving so many people disappointed who turn up on the night with their little kids,” Mr Featherby said.
Mr Featherby said the monster truck organisers were not sure how to overcome the issue but running the event over two nights would be a logistical nightmare, not only with noise issues but the likelihood that trucks could be out of action for the second night.
Despite this, he said they would definitely be holding the event in Cranbourne at the racecourse next year.
The crowd who made it into the venue on Saturday was not disappointed with five monster trucks, fire-breathing jet vans, the Demons of Dirt Freestyle Motocross riders, two fireworks displays and a performance by country music singer Adam Brand.
