One dead, three injured in crash

ONE man is dead and a second man is fighting for his life after a two-car collision in Clyde North on Sunday night.
The crash occurred on Berwick-Cranbourne Road about 9.30pm when a red Holden station wagon and a black Holden Frontier collided head-on.
The driver of the red Holden, a 19-year-old Lang Lang man, died at the scene.
His back seat passenger, a 19-year-old Heath Hill man, was airlifted to The Alfred hospital in a critical condition.
He remains in a life-threatening condition.
Sergeant Pat McGavigan of Casey Traffic Management Unit said police were hoping to speak to any other motorists who may have seen the red Holden travelling along the dark stretch of road around the time of the incident.
A Cockatoo man, 52, who was driving the black Commodore and a 50-year-old Cockatoo woman sitting in the car’s front passenger’s seat were taken to The Alfred hospital with moderate injuries.
The Lang Lang man’s death brings Casey’s road toll to six for the year.
Sixteen people died on Casey’s roads last year.
“This death makes it three in just over a month on our roads,” Sgt McGavigan said.
“I plead with drivers to take care because we don’t want this trend to continue.”
Anyone with information regarding the collision is asked to contact Senior Constable Ken Niven on 9705 3111.
