Living the dream

By Sarah Schwager
CRANBOURNE’S Ashley and Rebecca Clay have returned from their dream of a lifetime.
The brother and sister were part of a lucky group of special needs and underprivileged children from around Australia and New Zealand who joined Bollywood sensation and Australian star Tania Zaetta at the Wishes by Wyndham Dream Day at Dreamworld early last week.
Ashley, 11, and Rebecca, 15, suffered horrific burns in 2002 when their father’s car exploded because of a faulty LPG fuel system.
Their brother, Chad, died as a result of the incident and elder sister Jessica also suffered burns.
About 20 children were flown to Queensland for the special trip, each accompanied by a carer for the all-expenses paid trip.
Ashley and Rebecca’s mother, Ninetta Hoskins, said the kids were over the moon at taking their first holiday since before the accident.
She also joined them on the trip and said she was very excited about getting to spend some time with the two, while her husband, Malcolm, and her other four children were rapt that Ash and Rebecca had been given the opportunity.
The children were also joined by World Ironwoman Champion Kristy Munroe, Big Brother Friday Night Live hosts Mike Goldman and Bree Amer, Queensland rowing champ Luke Ellis and H20 actor Cleo Massey. They also got to meet Spongebob Squarepants.
Wyndham Vacation Resorts Asia Pacific Communications and PR executive Melina Schamroth said Wishes by Wyndham was set up to positively enhance the lives of people who needed support.
“We were just so thrilled to be able to give these incredibly deserving children and their hardworking carers an amazing experience they will never forget,” she said.
