Chase catches two

TWO Cranbourne men have been arrested and charged with theft of a car following a highspeed car chase on Sunday.
The hourlong pursuit began after police noticed a Commodore sedan speeding along FrankstonFlinders Road in Tyabb about 2.15pm.
Senior Constable Michael Henry said a police unit followed the car but was forced to abandon the chase a short time later because of safety concerns.
“The air wing continued to monitor the car as it sped through the eastern suburbs via Warrigal Road and onto the Monash Freeway,” he said.
The car was dumped on the rooftop of a supermarket in Bay Street, Port Melbourne, about 3.15pm.
Two men, aged 22 and 18, were arrested separately in the area and were interviewed at the St Kilda Police Station.
In addition to theft, the men were charged with dangerous driving and other driving offences.
They appeared in Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Monday and were remanded to reappear today (Thursday).
