Takeaways approved

PEARCEDALE residents will soon have double the choice of takeaway food shops.
Councillors at last week’s Casey planning committee meeting approved the development of three takeaway shops on the corner of Baxter-Tooradin Road and Peryman Street.
The shops will be located on vacant land opposite Pearcedale Village Shopping Centre and add to the three existing take-away food outlets in town.
Provision will be made for 12 on-site car parking spaces, with a licence for opening hours between 7am and 10pm Sunday to Thursday and 7am and 11pm Friday and Saturday.
Balla Balla Ward councillor Colin Butler said the development would be a welcome addition to the town and would “lift” the Pearcedale streetscape.
“This will be great for the area,” he said.
“This is the only site outside the shopping centre where more shops can be constructed.
“There is a terrific variety at the centre already but no scope to add anything new, so these shops will upgrade what’s there now.”
