Students in the loop

CRANBOURNE kids were taught a thing or two about shooting hoops at a recent visit from a star basketballer.
Melbourne Tigers assistant coach and former player Warrick Giddy visited Cranbourne Primary School last week to encourage local children to become involved in sport.
Giddy spoke to the children about his successful basketball career and the benefits of being involved in a variety of sport in and out of school hours.
The event, organised by the Life. Be In It Sport For All centre in Cranbourne, was one of a number of events at Casey primary schools this month in which kids learnt about the benefits of sport through class talks and assembly presentations.
The Melbourne Tigers basketball team and Netball Victoria, along with local primary schools, have supported the push to encourage children to become involved in sport.
The Life. Be In It centre is now offering children an opportunity to take part in a four-week come and try program in basketball, netball and indoor soccer.
During the four weeks, children will take part in fun activities that incorporate basic skills and rules in their chosen sport, before being placed into teams to put those skills into practice.
For more information about the clinics or other junior and senior competitions, call 5996 6033 or visit the centre at 65 Berwick-Cranbourne Road, Cranbourne.
