Schools get a healthy serve

TWO local primary schools will receive funding to help spread the healthy eating message.
Tooradin Primary School and Cranbourne South Primary School will receive $1500 through the Federal Government’s $15 million Healthy School Communities program.
Flinders MP Greg Hunt said the grants aimed to establish projects to help parents and children develop healthy eating habits.
The program is part of the $116 million Building a Healthy Active Australia initiative that includes the Go for 2 and 5 and Get Moving television campaigns.
“Good nutrition and healthy eating throughout childhood and adolescence help set the foundation for long-term health,” Mr Hunt said.
The Healthy School Communities grant offer has been extended and schools are encouraged to apply while funds are still available.
Grant applications and information are available from www.healthyactive.gov.au.
