Pair in daylight smash and grab

A MAN watched as two people carried out a daylight smash and grab in Cranbourne.
The man was putting up signs near the Settlement Hotel car park when he noticed a suspicious car.
A woman was sitting in the old blue box-shaped Ford while a man broke into another car and stole a handbag before the two sped off through the car park.
The car then turned left into Camms Road then the pair changed their minds and turned right on South Gippsland Highway.
The witness said the car had paper number plates on the back.
The theft happened about 4.40pm on Wednesday, 5 July.
The car broken into was a white 1983 Mitsubishi sedan and was in the car park at the Settlement Hotel.
The thief was described as 20 to 25 years old, with dark brown hair and a goatee beard and wearing a dark jacket.
The woman was described as in her early 20s with light brown hair and wearing a faded pink jacket.
