Oates calls for BMX audit

EVERY BMX track in Casey is to be put under the spotlight following a new council audit.
At last Tuesday night’s council meeting Myuna Ward councillor Brian Oates said many local tracks had fallen into disrepair and required rebuilding and council attention.
He moved that council officers carry out an audit into the location and state of repair of every BMX track in Casey and report back to the council next February on the projected usage and costs of repairs.
Cr Oates also moved that a BMX track be installed in Hallam Gardens.
“Many tracks need attention as they have become weathered and worn down.
“They need to be rebuilt and maintained to make sure they are safe.
“I also want council to look at installing one (track) in Hallam Gardens as they are light on in council facilities and infrastructure there.
“There is also really not that much for young people to do there at the moment,” he said.
