New residents boost salesBy Kelly Yates

CRANBOURNE’S peak retail body confirmed that residential growth was responsible for greater sales figures recorded by traders over the Christmas holiday period.
Lisa Saint John, president of the Cranbourne Chamber of Commerce, said real estate listings, sales and property management were very busy.
“We love being busy,” Ms Saint John said.
Despite offering no special street entertainment during the lead-up to Christmas, Ms Saint John said the chamber had already commenced planning for this year’s festive season.
“This year we are going to get local businesses on board,” Ms Saint John said.
A special three-hour Christmas trade period was just one idea on the table.
Derek West from Cranbourne Freeway Ford said new vehicle sales were up considerably on the same time last year.
“At the moment, Fords are selling very well in Cranbourne,” Mr West said.
Amberley Receptions has also reported being “exceptionally busy over the Christmas period”.
