THE Western Port Highway will be duplicated due to a significant boost in funding in the State Budget.
The $36.8 million will help duplicate the highway between Cranbourne- Frankston Road and North Road in Cranbourne South.
Hastings MP Rosy Buchanan said with $737 million being spent on reducing travel times on the Monash-West Gate corridor next year, the infrastructure links between Western Port Bay and the city would be substantially improved.
“This massive investment will significantly improve road safety and travel times and is great news for local residents and businesses,” Ms Buchanan said.
Funding for the project is part of a $345 million investment allocated by Treasurer John Brumby to upgrade arterial roads across Victoria.
