Goodwill on call

CRANBOURNE’S community kitchen has marked itself as a regular on the Casey calendar with another successful event held last week.
More than 300 locals turned out last Thursday for a free feed at the Casey William Angliss Cafe in Cranbourne East.
Patrons streamed in over three-and-a- half hours in the evening, enjoying a meal topped off with fruit platters and ice cream.
The weather also stayed nice enough for the outside seating so more people could sit and eat. The restaurant seats about 50 to 60 people at a time.
The kitchen was helped along by volunteers from the National Australia Bank, William Angliss hospitality students and Casey Cafe owner Phil Sealey, the Reverend Paul Creasey, Cranbourne MP Jude Perera and Casey councillor Steve Beardon.
Cr Beardon said the event was the best yet held in Cranbourne.
“We pulled out all stops and the evening was well coordinated, with patrons streaming in from 5.30pm to 8pm,” he said.
“Cranbourne certainly knows how to put on a good time, and cook up a storm.
“The kitchens are a great way for the community to come together, and for people to mix and enjoy the atmosphere. I can’t wait for the next one.”
The next community kitchen is already scheduled for December, with Santa Claus set to make an appearance.
