Council event is just all talk

HAMPTON Park residents and business operators are invited to a fun-filled SpeakOut event to talk about the issues that are most important to them.
The free community event will include entertainment, a free sausage sizzle, discussions and more at the Hampton Park Shopping Centre on Saturday 30 June.
Casey mayor Colin Butler said the event was the first chance for the community to put their stamp on the Hampton Park Community Renewal initiative by sharing their feedback on issues such as parks and open spaces, safety concerns, community services, and learning and training opportunities.
River Ward councillors Wayne Smith and Janet Halsall said they were keen for as many residents to come along as possible to give some input into the State Government and council initiative.
“The Hampton Park community has a key role in developing the type of future that they would like to see in their town,” Cr Smith said.
“The SpeakOut event will explore what is great about living or working in the area, as well as what could be improved which, in turn, will guide the efforts of the Hampton Park Community Renewal Team.”
Cr Halsall said: “In addition to the family and children’s activities on the day, interested community members may want to register their details to become part of action groups on various community matters, to more directly have a say on particular issues.”
The SpeakOut event runs from 10am to 2pm in front of the Hampton Park Community House.
For more information on Hampton Park Community Renewal or other council initiatives within Hampton Park, call Jacqui D’Sylva, community planning projects officer, on 9705 5200.
