Casey Games could host ‘best of the best’

THE City of Casey could host its own athletics carnival.
Council officers will look at the possibility of holding a carnival for young athletes after councillors agreed at Tuesday night’s council meeting to explore the option.
The report will also look at the idea of expanding the concept to involve all Victorian municipalities.
Councillor Michael Farley said he would like to see a municipal games for the best of the best.
Casey mayor Kevin Bradford said at the moment there were only a couple of junior athletics clubs in Casey.
“It is a great concept. It could really take off,” he said.
In a further motion, the council also decided to look at the possibility of having a sister city relationship between Casey and another city in Australia to allow the city’s youth to experience another area of the country or state, whether it be through sport or through school.
The council will discuss and gather interest about a sister city relationship at the upcoming Sister Cities Conference in Devonport, Tasmania.
