Bank spices up kitchen

THE Cranbourne Community Kitchen has received another win after last month’s announcement of a major sponsor.
The National Australia Bank (NAB) has now presented the facility with a $4000 Employee Volunteer Grant.
Last December, the NAB volunteer team from the Cranbourne Branch helped to serve over 500 meals to hungry members of the community, and at last night’s dinner NAB officially announced its sponsorship of the kitchen.
Ann Douglas, customer service manager at NAB Cranbourne, said the team’s involvement in the Community Kitchen had been both an educational and enjoyable experience.
“The Cranbourne Community Kitchen is a fantastic community initiative. The kitchen brings together students and local business professionals to help those in need,” she said.
The Community Kitchen is manned by students from William Angliss TAFE, which assists young people by helping to improve literacy, confidence and employment prospects through a six-week course, and last night dinner was served up by a group of young people with special needs.
“All the NAB team thoroughly enjoy getting stuck in and helping serve the food as well as the opportunity to meet and chat with the community,” Ms Douglas said.
Paul Creasey, from the Cranbourne Community Kitchen, said they were delighted to receive the grant as well as NAB’s ongoing support.
“It will enable us to continue providing hot food to those in need,” he said.
The NAB volunteers nominated the Cranbourne Community Kitchen for the $4000 grant.
NAB’s monthly Employee Volunteer Grant Program seeks to further help community or non-profit organisations that work with bank employees as part of the bank’s Volunteer Program.
NAB’s Volunteer Program offers each of the bank’s 22,000 Australian employees two days of paid volunteer leave a year.
Employees are able to nominate the community group or association they volunteer with for the Employee Volunteer Grant.
