ADHD group welcomed

PARENTS and carers of Attention Deficit and Hyper Activity Disorder (ADHD) sufferers have welcomed the establishment of a new support group in the area.
Hampton Park resident Flora Warren, whose eightyearold son suffers from ADHD, established the service in August after becoming increasingly frustrated at what she says is a lack of support available to carers and family members.
She said there was a strong community demand for a support group, with 30 members signing up within the first few months.
“We are going really well and everyone has found the meetings incredibly worthwhile,” she said.
“We have at least 15 to 20 people at each meeting and give advice, information and support to parents, carers and family members.”
Ms Warren said the group welcomed its first ever guest speaker to last week’s meeting, held at the Narre Warren Library.
“Wendy Smith from disability support service MOIRA spoke to the members about respite,” she said.
For more information on the ADHD support group phone Flora Warren on 0413 695 192.
