Right way to stop casualties

TRAFFIC signals at a major Cranbourne intersection will be upgraded and street lighting will be improved as part of the Traffic Accident Commission funded Arrive Alive! program.
The State Government grant of $56,000 will help improve road safety by providing a right turn arrow at the intersection of Thompsons Road and the South Gippsland Freeway.
Cranbourne MP Jude Perera said there had been 21 casualty crashes including six serious crashes at the intersection over the last five years.
“This funding will endeavour to reduce the incidence and severity of intersection crashes and the terrible consequences they can bring,” Mr Perera said.
“The installation of a fully controlled right-turn signal at the traffic lights and adding better lighting will provide improved safety for motorists.”
The funding is part of the State Government’s $240 million Arrive Alive! Safer Roads Program, funded by the TAC.
