Quality service praise

CASEY mayor Kevin Bradford has praised the standard of this year’s Citizens of the Year Award nominees.
The awards will be held on Australia Day, Thursday, 26 January to acknowledge the efforts of individuals and groups who have made the most outstanding contribution to the Casey community.
This year 36 nominations were received, including eight residents for Citizen of the Year, 10 for Young Citizen of the Year, six for Senior Citizen of the Year, four people for Non-Residents of the Year and eight for Community Event of the Year.
Cr Bradford said he was impressed by the remarkable stories of individuals and the local events that helped band the community together.
“The Casey Citizens of the Year Awards provide an opportunity to officially recognise the efforts of individuals and groups who have made a difference in the Casey community through their time and effort in any number of activities,” he said.
“Casey is a vibrant and exciting place to live, filled with exceptional people and celebrated by a host of wonderful events.
“The calibre of this year’s nominees is a tribute to our amazing community.”
The winner of each category will be announced at a ceremony on Australia Day.

Non-Resident of the Year Nominees
– Lisa Benn (Drouin), Sam Castello (Chelsea), Dawn Risdale (Upwey) and Lei Sheng Tong (Keysborough).
Citizen of the Year Nominees
– Helen Evans (Devon Meadows), Robyn Garbutt (Cranbourne North), Alyssa Gray (Doveton), Roger Hall (Narre Warren), David Hawkins (Endeavour Hills), Grant Ludlow (Doveton), Sonia Tresca (Berwick) and Grace Woltanski (Endeavour Hills).
Young Citizen of the Year Nominees
– Nicholas Anderson (Endeavour Hills), Shannon Barnes (Narre Warren), Danie Bunting (Berwick), David Campbell (Hampton Park), Shannon Elso (Cranbourne), Eliza Kelly (Narre Warren South), Ines Krak (Cranbourne), Elyse Manson (Hallam), Dale Mills (Narre Warren), Nicole Pittau (Cranbourne).
Senior Citizen of the Year Nominees
– Patricia Catt (Hallam), Peter Hall (Hampton Park), Margaret Hill (Berwick), Lindsay King (Cranbourne), Helga Maude Lehtinen (Narre Warren) and Beryl Maddern (Cranbourne).
Casey Community Event of the Year Award – 2005
– Casey Central Community Carols by Candlelight, Cranbourne Car and Bike Show 2005, Doveton Eumemmerring Show Day, Festival of Friendship, Narre Warren North Uniting Church Community Carols, Pearcedale Remembrance Day, Staying Healthy in Diversity and We Are One Day.
