Paintball gets fired up again

PAINTBALL has blasted its way back on to Victoria’s sporting scene after a brief absence.
Changed firearms laws saw the closure of paintball facilities across Victoria, forcing Paintball Carrum Downs owner Mark Fitzgerald to rethink his business plan.
Now with revised legislation changes to again make paintball skirmish legal, Mr Fitzgerald has reopened the only paintball skirmish location in Victoria, and has been busy ever since.
“It’s just a good fun sport, an adult version of cowboys and Indians,” Mr Fitzgerald said.
“The new legislation came into effect on January 1 and we had our first group through basically straight away.”
Paintball skirmish is a game of imagination and strategic ability rather than physical fitness.
Teams are fitted with protective army-like gear and use paintballs to shoot at the opposition.
A typical game last for about four hours and ranges in price from $55 through to $210 depending on the number of paintballs required.
Each session is fully supervised and planned, offering a fun and safe way to enjoy a day outdoors.
