Neighbourhood house boost

MINISTER for Local Government Candy Broad this week announced a $50,000 grant to the Casey City Council for the development of a new neighbourhood house on Berwick-Cranbourne Road.
The neighbourhood house will be part of a new multi-purpose facility that will include a children’s playground and several multi-purpose rooms for community use.
“Cranbourne East is a high-population growth area and neighbourhood houses play a crucial role in giving people the chance to develop skills, build their confidence, meet new people and form important links with their community,” Cranbourne MP Jude Perera said.
Ms Broad said that funding for the Cranbourne East Neighbourhood House included 20 co-ordination hours each week.
“Victoria’s neighbourhood houses now receive more funding than they have ever received before,” Mr Perera said.
“The Victorian Government is boosting its support for neighbourhood houses because they are vital local resources that play a key role in building stronger communities.”
