Murder-suicide fireball probe

A WOMAN killed in a possible murder-suicide has been identified as a 36-year-old Cranbourne woman.
Detectives from Lilydale CIU are investigating a car crash in Mount Dandenong of a separated couple, which occurred last Wednesday, 21 February at about 10.30pm.
The car was heading towards Kalorama when it failed to negotiate a bend on Mt Dandenong Tourist Road before leaving the road and colliding with a phone pole, igniting the LPG fuel tank.
The vehicle then continued on for about 100 metres and went through a wire fence and hedge.
The car continued on into bushland, hit a tree and continued to burn.
Police were told that prior to the collision the man driving the car threatened to harm himself and left a note to that effect.
DNA testing was unsuccessful in identifying the man killed in the crash due to extensive burns he received.
The name of the woman, who was a passenger in the car, has not been released.
Anyone with information about the investigation is urged to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
