Kids die in crash

TWO children died and three other people were seriously injured after a car and a truck collided in Lynbrook yesterday (Wednesday) morning.
Police believe a Ford Festiva was travelling through the intersection of Lynbrook Boulevard and South Gippsland Highway when it and a semi-trailer travelling north on the highway collided about 10.40am.
A seven-year-old boy died at the scene and a 14-year-old boy was airlifted to the Royal Children’s Hospital (RCH) but died a short time later.
Another 10-year-old was airlifted to the RCH.
A 40-year-old Devon Meadows woman was taken by ambulance to The Alfred hospital and a 12-year-old Devon Meadows girl was conveyed to the RCH. The male truck driver was taken by ambulance to Dandenong Hospital for observation and later released.
The South Gippsland Highway was blocked to north-bound traffic for several hours. Police from the Major Collision Investigation Unit attended the scene and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision.
Police will prepare a report for the Coroner.
