Hunt Club grants snared

LOCAL community groups received a helping hand with the presentation of the Hunt Club Community Grants recently.
Ten notforprofit organisations throughout Casey were rewarded for outstanding community work at a special presentation evening on Monday, 24 October.
Dennis Family Corporation director Adele Levinge presented the groups with a financial donation and certificate of recognition in honour of their ongoing contributions to the local community.
“The Hunt Club has donated almost $60,000 to local community groups over the past four years,” she said.
“We’re proud to be able to make this contribution to support the ongoing work of these organisations.”
Ms Levinge said the groups, including the Salvation Army, Society of St Vincent de Paul Cranbourne, Cranbourne Community House, Cranbourne Preschool, Rural and Peninsula Disability Support Inc, Cranbourne Information and Support Service Inc, Cranbourne and District Toy Library Inc, Cranbourne Guides, Devon Meadows Rural Fire Brigade and Cranbourne Parkinson’s Disease Support Group, each received a financial donation of between $500 and $1000.
Nominations were judged by an independent panel of community leaders, including Cranbourne MP Jude Perera and Casey mayor Neil Lucas.
Cranbourne Guides volunteer Janice Keyzer said the group was delighted to receive $700 for new guttering around the hall.
“Our gutters are in need of repair to the stage where our roof is leaking,” she said.
“We have 80 girls in the group now and the hall is well used.
“Now that we can fix the gutter and stop the leaking we will start fundraising to replace our roof.
“This is the second year in a row we have been lucky enough to receive a grant. It is excellent.”
