Graffiti is back on school timetable

CASEY Council’s innovative graffiti education program will recommence in schools later this month.
Warner Group has been awarded the contract to deliver the graffiti management program for the third year in a row.
Council officers described the company as “one of the few organisations in Australia with the expertise and capability of providing the required graffiti educative service”.
In a report tabled to council at last week’s council meeting, community safety manager Brendan Fitzsimmons said the contractor would conduct the education program once a year for all primary and secondary school students between grade five and year eight.
“The City of Casey graffiti management program is well recognised as best practice in the management and minimisation of graffiti,” Mr Fitzsimmons said.
“The success of the program is attributable to the three essential components of eradication, education and enforcement.
“Warner Groups trading as Graffiti Education has a wealth of experience in the delivery of graffiti educational programs and have been providing services to Casey since 2002,” he said.
River Gum Ward councillor Wayne Smith praised the council funded program, claiming it was a great opportunity for schools.
“We do this at my school and I have seen what a fantastic job they do,” he said.
“I am grateful to council for providing this to schools at no cost.”
Mr Fitzsimmons said the program was expected to be completed at all schools by November or early December.
