Cracker of a night

TOORADIN’S Christmas on the Foreshore went off with a bang on Friday night.
A huge fireworks display on the water was the highlight of the evening, wowing the thousands of locals who went along for the show.
The fireworks followed a special Commandoes parachute display jump, with three plane loads of parachuters.
Onlookers were given an extra treat when the star jumper missed his mark on the jetty by a couple of metres when a gust of wind blew him into the water.
Tooradin Foreshore committee of management secretary Marg Lenders said it was a great night, only slightly down on last year’s attendance of 4000 due to the cold weather.
“People really enjoyed the night,” Ms Lenders said.
“Santa arrived by firetruck. He sat on a chair and the queue of children to meet him was four house blocks long.”
Other popular favourites included performances from the Marketeers Jazz Group and Christmas carols from the Cranbourne Chorale.
The kids also flocked around Princess Candy and the Magician, with a jumping castle and little Tikes swing also at the event to entertain.
