THE Cranbourne Country Fire Authority (CFA) will receive much-needed funds to go towards purchasing a new fire truck.
Casey mayor Kevin Bradford announced at the 4 April council meeting that $2500 would go to the Cranbourne club to help buy firefighting equipment.
The funds are part of $20,000 allocated to each Casey councillor to use for minor capital works in their ward.
The Cranbourne CFA has been working hard to raise funds to go towards buying the truck.
“The club is actively setting up someone to campaign to ask for donations for a new truck.
“Hopefully, this money will help give them a good head start,” Cr Bradford said.
He said being a strong supporter of the CFA it had been important for him to allocate a percentage of the funds to help them out.
At the Casey Council meeting last week, councillors voted to fund the projects nominated by the councillors and for council officers to begin works.
Council resolved to allocate $20,000 for each ward councillor for minor capital works at its 7 February meeting.
Cr Bradford has also nominated $2500 for the Cranbourne Information and Support Service for running costs, $5000 to the Cranbourne Community Theatre for an air conditioner, and $10,000 to Lurline Park for fencing and planting works.
