Prep grade all at sea

CRANBOURNE Primary School’s littlies explored life under the sea last week.
The grade preps came dressed as all sorts of aquatic creatures on World Ocean Day last Friday.
It was part of a term-long theme at the school learning about fish and things from the ocean.
Prep teacher Stacey Clark said the kids showed up on the day for a special parade in front of their parents, then participated in various activities during the day.
These included making water colour jelly, singing songs about the ocean such as Five Little Fishies and Slippery Fish and making penguin masks.
The classrooms are already swarming with fish and facts about sea creatures.
Mrs Clark said the children had really enjoyed last week’s event.
“They loved it, they had a ball. They really enjoyed the positive attention from others, with the other kids asking them questions about their costumes and how they made them,” she said.
“Lots of parents made their kids’ costumes. It was great to see how the parents went to such a great effort.”
Mrs Clark said the theme tied in nicely around World Ocean Day, with the children learning and talking about the environment, how to keep animals safe and recycling.
“They keep picking up papers from the schoolyard now because they don’t want them to go into the ocean.”
