Novel idea pays off

LYNDHURST Secondary College students have read their way to success.
About 25 Year 7 and 8 students took part in the Premier’s Reading Challenge.
Last Friday Narre Warren South MP Judith Graley visited the school to present the students with their certificates.
Information resources coordinator Pam Macdonald said it was the first year the school had taken part in the challenge, in which they had to read 15 novels in three months.
The students also took part in the Young Australian’s Best Book Award (YABBA), voting for their favourite Australian book. The YABBA Award Ceremony was held at Beaconhills College in Berwick last month.
Ms Macdonald said both reading events were part of a push by the school to get kids reading more widely.
