New look for Blind Bight

By Alison Noonan
THE revamped Blind Bight Community Centre committee of management met for the first time as a new team recently.
The committee underwent a complete overhaul at its annual general meeting recently, with only two original members remaining on the new 12-member board.
The new look committee takes the reigns from the previous four-member committee, which had run the centre for many years.
Wayne Finch has taken on the role of president, Bob O’Connell is the new vice president, Mary Crynes has come on as treasurer and Jennie Finch is secretary.
Mrs Finch said members delegated roles and took care of current urgent business at the committee’s first ‘hand-over’ meeting on Wednesday 22 February.
“This was our first meeting as a new committee so it is a very exciting time,” she said.
“Our aim is to be more inclusive to the coastal villages and make the centre a real focal point for local residents.
“We are looking forward to having more social activities and adding some new programs that are interesting and appealing to everyone.
“This is a multi-functional building and it should be used that way.”
Mrs Finch thanked the old committee for its hard work and said she looked forward to new beginnings for the centre.
“It is an exciting time but a very challenging time also.
“We appreciate how difficult it’s been for the previous committee, which had serviced the community for a long time and was so small in numbers.
“But we are looking forward to new things,” she said.
