Locks lost for sick children

A CRANBOURNE senior constable has lost her locks and raised $10,000 for sick kids in the process.
Senior Constable Laurette Clarke was among four Cranbourne police officers, as well as Region Five Inspector Bob Hill, to shave their hair for Bluey Day on Saturday.
All up the station raised about $20,000, for which any sick child can apply.
“My head is really cold now,” Sen Const Clarke said. “My hair was down to my waist so it’s a bit of a shock.”
Sen Const Clarke said her own little four-year-old girl was seriously ill as a baby and so she had been inspired to raise money for the worthy cause.
“People kept saying we were brave to shave our heads,” she said.
“But when you see those kids in the hospital you see they’re the ones who are brave.
“This money could help them survive. That’s what I like about Bluey Day. Anyone can apply.”
Constables Todd Warne and Scott Miller and Senior Constable Glen Dunn also featured at Fountain Gate at the state’s largest Bluey Day festivities and are now walking around the police station with a bit less protection up top.
Everyone who had their head shaved had to raise at least $1000 to go towards the cause.
