Here’s the news: she’s No.1

A CRANBOURNE indoor soccer team on a losing streak decided to inspire its fledgling players by scoring a celebrity number one ticket holder.
Channel Nine’s Today show newsreader Allison Langdon was more than happy to jump on board division one men’s team the Tumbleweeds.
One of the crew, Michael Floyd, said that arguably the best-looking newsreader on television had already inspired the team to its best performance yet this season when it achieved a draw at last week’s Wednesday night game.
And Ms Langdon couldn’t have been prouder of her new team’s success, spurring them on to hopefully win their next game.
“Tonight you will trump the competition leaders – and just think, with that will come instant respect of all those who have written off our team,” she said to encourage the boys before their game.
The team plays at the Casey Indoor Sports Centre in Cranbourne.
Coincidentally Ms Langdon is also a veteran of indoor soccer and so sympathised with the team’s plight.
“I played when I lived in Darwin a few years back,” she said. “We had the heart – just not the talent.”
Mr Floyd said the idea to invite Ms Langdon as number one ticket holder was all a bit of fun but he said it had already given the boys a bit of a lift.
“It is hoped that having the celebrity factor will help inspire the Tumbleweeds to greater glory. Or maybe a win. Or at least get on the scoresheet,” he said.
Ms Langdon said while she might not be at the games, she would certainly be there in spirit.
